Changes to Fuel

There has been little advance publicity but are you aware that on 1st January 2011 the good old “red diesel” that has powered the railway for 2 generations will cease to exist.

EU legislation for emissions reductions and increased use of bio-fuel means that BS2869 is changing the new fuel (whilst still red) will be far more like DERV than the railway has traditionally been used to.  What does it mean?
